With school about to reopen for the New Year, the pressure is on to get all the school shopping done. The problem is that many people will still be on holiday right up until schools reopen, which means getting school shopping done can be a drag and is often something that many parents put off until the last minute.
This is why we have come up with a short list of things that you should do when you go school shopping to make the trip less annoying and more stress-free.
1# Make a list! Working with lists makes life so much easier. Draw up a list of items that your child will need for the new school year. Fortunately for you though, there are many schools that provide parents with a stationery list so you don’t have to go through the whole process yourself.
2# Re-use old stationery: Chances are your kids will still have that eraser, some pens and pencils, and even a blank notebook or two from the previous year which they can still use this year. Simply get the kids together, make them find their old stationery and see what can be used. The rest you can buy!
3# Re-use uniforms: You could do the same thing when it comes to school uniforms. Check what can still be used this year and buy the rest.
4# Don’t get distracted at the stores: This will be likely to happen with all the back to school sales going on, but take your list and stick to it! Don’t let the kids go wild either, because they will want to purchase all the fancy and new stationery items that they see in the stores, which they will inevitably forget about soon enough.
5# Shop online: There are many stores that now give you the option to do all your shopping online at affordable prices. It will give you the opportunity to skip all the lines and craziness that comes with the back to school rush.
Kids these days also make use of tablets and laptops to do their homework on so parents are under additional pressure to provide the best and most educationally helpful gadgets. Aside from being able to purchase traditional stationery, the modern parent needs to focus on also providing their kids with the right sort of technology that will get them geared up towards a productive year ahead.
You could opt for a laptop (we have amazing deals on these) for your child so that they have the right technology to use for research and assignments. Laptops are better as they don’t take up as much space as a traditional desktop computer and your child can take it to the library or do homework anywhere in the house.
It is imperative to get your kids the right tools for them to start the new school year, so plan ahead and budget for all the right items that they will need. This way you will be able to give your kids the head start to the new school year that they need!
