Easter is normally buzzing with fun, family events over the long weekend, but sadly this is no ordinary Easter. All the joy and eggcitement we would normally outsource is now left for us to create in our own homes.
We aren’t Easter eggsperts but we can help you create a little magic at home. Here are some ways you can keep Easter alive in lockdown. Better hop to it!
Get out of your pyjamas
In lockdown we know your wardrobe is wasting away. This weekend is the perfect eggscuse to get out of your pyjamas, brush your hair and put on something sparkly or fun for the weekend. Let your kids also put together and choose their own outfits.
Get fun stuff ready for some hands on arts and crafts. There are loads of Easter activities online and printouts to get the little bunnies excited. Try decorating eggs with paint or DIY bunny-ear baskets.
Home Easter egg hunt
Host your own Easter egg hunt in your backyard or inside the house. You could even start with a letter from the Easter Bunny, or leave some sneaky footprints (made out of paper) or pieces of fur (cotton wool) for some added drama. Prepare riddles and scavenger hunt clues which can keep the whole family entertained.
Have fun in the kitchen
Bake your own hot cross buns or cupcakes decorated with Easter eggs. You can also try some bunny-shaped cookies or pancakes.
Live-stream a church service
If church is part of your family’s Easter tradition, you can still attend your Good Friday and Sunday morning service from the comfort of your home. Though physical churches have closed their doors to comply with social distancing, services are still happening via YouTube, Facebook Live and church websites.
Watch a bunny flick
Snuggle up in your bunny onesie and put on an Easter movie. Hop, Peter Rabbit and Rise of the Guardians are all eggcellent ways to cozy up and celebrate or if you want something deeper try Passion of Christ or The Robe.
Have a hoppy Easter!
